Cycling West Africa & Chasing Conversations Over Kilometers

What happens when you trade the highway for the goat path? In this episode, our guest Lindsey pedals across West Africa the slow way, chasing conversations instead of kilometers. This episode is equal parts travelogue and love letter to the people who make the road worth riding.

WaterAid America
More than 1 in 3 people in West and Central Africa lack safe drinking water, and women and girls spend hours collecting it, which keeps them out of school and work. WaterAid installs water points and latrines and trains local committees to maintain them. In 2024–25, they reached 748,000+ people. $50 gives 2.5 people a lifetime of clean water.

Centre for Girls Education, Nigeria
More than half of girls in northern Nigeria aren't in school, which is linked to child marriage and early childbearing. This women-led nonprofit helps girls stay in school and build economic independence through education, vocational training, and leadership programs. Girls' graduation rates have risen from 4% to 84%, and their average age of marriage has risen from 14.9 to 17.4. $50 supports a girl's education and skills. 100% of donations go to CGE via its U.S. 501(c)(3) partner, OASIS.

With deep cuts to international aid, supporting groups already doing this work matters more than ever.
